Arts and update

Update- I finished pants for Clayton and they came out pretty well.

I have stopped nursing Clayton, much to my chagrin. I am in some pain now and I'm finding it tough to pick him up because I can't handle the pressure on my chest. I was fearful of weaning because of my problems with blocked milk ducts. So, far I'm just hard and sore, so my wish is that it doesn't take too long to get through it.

I am working on some kimono wrap shirts for Clayton and I may make matching pants. They will be pj's. If I can make them successfully I will make some for Olivia and Drake, Clay's cousins. I made these long sleeved. Here they are:

I have also carved out a rubber block picture of Clayton to make into cards. The method of transfer was to print out the black and white Photoshop manipulated image using our laser printer. I placed the copy print side down onto the rubber, placed a piece of muslin over the copy and ironed on Medium. I pulled off the paper when warm. I carved away the white areas. I save ink by not printing out the whole black background. The next step is to print them on cards. The block measures just larger than the front of the blank cards. I need to make sure I have oil based black ink. Maybe the water-soluble would work, too.

Clayton

Clayton is growing so fast. He even started using crayons!! He can drink from a sippy cup all by himself.

His favorites:
bananas (still)
cheerios (actually toasted oats or tasty o's generic versions)
tossing cheerios on the ground
bongo and a ball
pens from the drawer
a zip lock bag of highlighters
mommy and daddy food
baths
giving and receiving hugs
putting his head on your lap or shoulder
Cezanne, the cat- he puts his head on him, too
Looking in daddy's medicine cabinet
opening drawers and dumping out it's contents
taking a new print out of the printer and handing it to mommy
smiling with a squint
walking with the help of mom or dad
escaping from mom and zipping down the hall
playing in toilet
playing in the cat's water dish
pulling toilet paper off the role
zipping around the grocery store in the cart
crawling up and down stairs

His dislikes:
when we try to make him drink when he doesn't want to

Projects and so on

Here's a pic of a really yummy breakfast casserole I made for a brunch we went to on the weekend.
Here are the booties I made recently. They were made from fabric samples and for the soles as well. That didn't always work well. The seams were small, so they frayed at times. Future booties won't be made with those... Hopefully they will fit Olivia and I think the tan tent booties might be okay for Drake.

Teeth!

These suckers are sharp, too! I was finally able to snap some pictures of the "teeth". I was tickling him and he was giggling like crazy

Baby Booties

Here are some pics of my latest project. I made a few rejects and even these weren't easy to make the same size. I tried following a couple of patterns, but a some of the instructions were strange and I didn't have the exact hook or yarn.... so I made up my own pattern. They will be sent off to Sarah's Olivia soon. I will be sewing some booties tomorrow, so maybe I'll hold off on mailing them out right away. Drake and Clayton may get a pair, too, if they look manly enough.

Weekend fun

Yesterday, we went to the Denver aquarium and then visited Aunt Joyce and Uncle Tom. We went out to eat at a restaurant called Venice and it was excellent. Clayton behaved well and even munched on some delicious bread.

Cezanne and Clayton

Cezanne, our cat, went to the dentist and it was confirmed that he had horrible teeth. He had to have 6 extracted and the whole deal cost over $1300. Holy crap! I never thought I would spend that much money on a cat. I love him though, and he deserves to be pain free. I'll add a new pic of him soon, but you can see his back side on my last post. He's doing well. I pumped him with pain killers and he's acting pretty normal.

Clayton can't resist going under the desk to pull at all of the cords. He throws a fit when I take him out from under there. Clay is getting down from standing really well now. He likes to help load the dish washer and instead of scrubbing a dirty pot he used a new sponge for a teething toy.

Nudie Baby

Clayton sometimes takes a bath/shower with me. The master bath only has a shower, so I put him in his baby tub and run the shower. He loves it. After this bath he was crawing all round the bathroom. Look at that cute butt!

Hello Kitty

Clayton is becoming friendly with Cezanne. He watches him intently and smiles at him, too. Even when breast feeding that cat can distract Clay.

Yum Yum

Clayton is fond of munching on his toes. Zands was watching Clayton while Madeline and I were at a glass fusing workshop. Pics of my pieces will be next on the blog.

Here are some photos of the area near our house on base. There are several playgrounds within walking distance. Clay had a bath and is happy as ever
