School Garb

Here are some of the latest school clothes I've been wearing.  Actually, the top 3 are 2 spirit days we had at Rocky.  This week it was Zombie White Out and last week was 80's Rocker.  Again, I was one of 2 or 3 teachers that participated.  With 2300 kids, you would think more of them would have dressed up, but I only way a handful.  Today I was giving out candy to kids who showed spirit.  Consequently, I came home with a lot of candy.  Since I am a teacher, guess what the candy was.  Smarties...

Highlights from the Syracuse Jazz Fest 2012

Harri Stojka's Tribute Gypsy Swing (they were fantastic)

Cyrille Aimee and Diego Figueiredo-  The most beautiful voice and guitar playing you would not believe.

Mingo Fishtrap- Lead Singer's voice is great, lots of soul but the Bass was overpowering

Gregory Porter-  The reason I came.  Phenomenal.  Bought a CD and got his autograph.  If you don't love his music you are weird!  Deep stuff!

Kenny G.  -No photos.  Tiny man.

Banners for the Syracuse Women's Information Center

I designed these banners (2' X 4') using referencing some clip art images and an Elizabeth Catlett painting.  Karen Mihalyi wanted to show all the things the Center is involved with.  With some painting help, I finally finished them last week.  They will be hung on the front of Info.'s  house.

Here are some designs I came up with to embellish the bag the CNY Arts Center will have for sale at the Arts Fest on Saturday.  Several more are in the works right now.

New Yarn Bomb

This is my second bomb in town.  I have another one I will display later in the coming week.  I want to make it a little bit bigger.

They were crocheted.  Actually a few weeks ago they disappeared.  Someone ripped them down.  I have another one, a telephone pole: http://www.cnyartscenter.com/Yarn_Crusaders_Wanted.html

Sunflower Coaster

I totally forgot about my actual first project with rug hooking.  It's a coaster that is rather large, so it can double as a trivet.  I am currently working on a rug hooked purse with pinks, purples, blues and greens.

Coloring Book Pages

As a very active member in the CNY Arts Center, I have been volunteering to create posters, logos, invitations, table decorations.... and more.  We are going to be participating in our local Memorial Day Parade and we will pass out pamphlets, sell water and lollipops and pass out little coloring books and crayons for the kiddos.  I designed some little guys with the basic figure from our logo.  I had fun and I think they came out pretty well.

Recent Work

I recently finished my first rug hooking project.  I have it on my dining room table.

Here is a small refrigerator magnet I made for Kim.  It represents Brandt and Kim's cat Mr. Butters.

These are a pair of thrift store shoes for Clayton.  I decoupage-"d" comic strips on them.

Here's a picture of my sweetheart cat, Cezanne.  The chair mat underneath him is my second large(ish) rug hooked project modeled after Cezanne.

Valentine stuff

 Here is another gourd vase.

I made these magnets and painted a bunch of them attempting to imitate the ones at Sundance.  When I tried to sand off some of it to show the texture more paint chipped off than I wanted.  Today, I decided to cover them with tissue paper.  With more colors of tissue paper I think they would be a little nicer, but overall, I'm happy.  I have more to finish....

 Some hooked heart magnets.
A cute note Clayton and I made.
