Happy 2nd Birthday, Clayton!

I do not want to look into the camera.

One flag in my cupcake is not enough.

Nope, I don't like this hat after all.

My new running shoes! Woo hoo!

I made the banner with recycled fabric and some Thomas the Tank Engine fabric I bought.

I made the cupcakes from scratch, but I didn't have heavy cream, so the frosting didn't whip up.

Amigurumi- Crochet Dolls

I never thought I could make these dolls because I always had trouble understanding the patterns. Well, I tried and did pretty well. The octopus was partially finished when I added the eyes and now wish I had put them further up on the body. Clay really loves the octopus that he calls Gus (Matt's suggestion).

Patterns from Lionbrand.com

This Blogspot is driving me nuts because I have to upload photos 12 times before it brings them all up. I have to do the process again and again.

Toddler Decor

We finally took down our Christmas tree last week. Clayton was sad about it and went around hanging some ornaments on cabinet knobs and the hooks on his play kitchen. Okay.

The Audience Boo'd Me

Clay got boo'd on Wii Rock Band. Not really. He just hates to pose for pictures.

Lower Case Fabric Letter Finished

I finished up the lower case letters I was working on for Clayton. I adapted the tutorial I found at Happy Together. I used thick recycled fabric for the backing. It was upholstery swatches from sample books. and was thick enough that I did not use batting. Instead of cutting out each paper letter, I rough cut a rectangle letter, pinned the the 2 fabrics and the paper to the top. I sewed on top of the paper pattern and did not do any quilting. I carefully tore the paper off (folding first where able) . That saved me from cutting each letter out along the lines. Clayton is interested in letters and can sometimes identify them correctly(along with numbers). Very cool.

Birdie Decorations

I finished some "birdie decorations" from the instructions at Attic42. I think I mentioned Lucy's blog before and I love to look at her beautiful, colorful work, and gorgeous surroundings.
I am also, working on some cute amigurumi (crochet stuffed animals) for Clayton. I'll post those soon.

Thrifty mom

Here are my latest thrift finds. I spent $21. The shoes are practically new, and Clay loves Dr. Suess, Jamie Lee Curtis, The Berenstain Bears, Elmo, Little Critters and Arthur. Lucky boy and lucky me.

Fashionable Gloves

How Clean is Your House? is the funniest show on BBC. I made my own fashionable rubber gloves to be like Kim Woodburn.

Don't Miss This

I am watching a series on PBS called This Emotional Life. It is fantastic. The topic this episode is Happiness. I know I have missed some episodes, but I hope I will get to see the rest in repeats. If not, I will rent it when it becomes available. Thanks to my mom for telling me about it. I haven't been keeping up on PBS lately, and I need to get back to it. We have been watching the Masterpiece series of Inspector Lewis and that is great, too. PBS rocks!!

Bra Man

What is with my kid? He loves to wear my bras on his neck.

Working With My Hands

These are some acorns made from felt and leaves from scrap leather from the thrift store.

The bibs were made from patterns at LionBrand.

The cupcake pincushion was made from an old wool sweater of mine, one from the thrift store, and a cotton sweater of mine. The berry was hand felted (leaf from acrylic felt).

I made some oven mitts for some of my relatives. I kept 2 for myself, and forgot to photograph the others. The pattern is from Georgie Melot's Ready Set Serge segment on Sewing With Nancy.

Major Matthew Thomas of the USAF Academy

Matt had his photo taken today with his new rank on his uniform. He's a Major! Congratulations to him! It came out pretty well. In most formal pictures he tends to look way too serious. (By the way, see those sharp wings. Well, he changed Clayton the other day and was holding him to his chest, (I think) and scratched the boy pretty badly under the arm.) EEEyyee popeye!

Trapped

Well, I'm stuck in the house today because I don't have the carseat. Matt was supposed to get it out of his car yesterday and forgot again, today. So, we are having the saurbraten leftovers tonight instead of tomorrow. He's out of luck for his salad lunch tomorrow. I finally finished Alexandra's present, but will wait to post pictures when she gets it in the mail. That's the other thing, I couldn't mail out her package today, either. Well, I just finished making her some CDs anyways, so I probably wouldn't have gotten the package out, unless Matt comes home early from work. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I just made a small healthy smoothy with some peach puree I froze a few months ago some frozen grapes, yogurt, and some flax seed meal. Maybe it will offset the m & m's I ate earlier. I'm going to workout with the Wii later on and I was surprised that I am actually already at an appropriate weight, ect. But, I need to get more firm. My hypermobile patellas are a concern, so I want to do strengthening exercises for my knees which involves work on the quads. My shoulder is messed up, too, so I want to work on those, as well.

Letters of the Alphabet Project

I found yet another project I want to do. Clayton is interested in letters and tries to identify them. Happy Together has a rag quilt project to make upper and lower case letters for children to play with. I'm adding this one to my list.

Dinner and some Lights

The other night we went to dinner at Marco's (the best pizza! --Clay got to play with dough and make friends with the owner) and then to the Denver Botanic Gardens to see their light display. It was almost the blue moon, and I managed to include it in one of the pictures. I forgot my tripod, but still managed to get a few good pics. I took some video, too, so it'll take me some time to get something ready to post. If only I had a Mac, I could use IMovie to edit which is better than anything I have found for the PC. I have used the video cam very little because of this. Anyway, we had a great night. A nice way to bring in the new year.
